APD Investigating Hwy 183 Hit-and-Run Last Night

Last night, a pedestrian was crossing the eastbound frontage road of U.S. Highway 183 when he was struck and killed by a truck. The truck driver left the scene in a hit-and-run death. The accident is currently under investigation by APD Vehicular Homicide detectives, who shut down the road while they investigated and talked to witnesses.

We hope that this hit-and-run driver is found quickly and brought to justice. Our deepest sympathies go out to the family of the deceased man.

Our law firm represents families of wrongful death victims. During this incredibly difficult and heartbreaking time, it can be hard to know what to do next. The first step is deciding if legal action is a good option.

Spouses or immediate family members such as parents or children usually file wrongful death claims. In cases such as this hit-and-run accident, there are a few ways that insurance money can be recovered. First of all and ideally, the criminal driver will be identified via eyewitness statements and investigation. If this happens, the victim’s family can file a claim against the driver’s insurance.

However, if the perpetrator is not found, there is another way to recover money through UIM and PIP coverage. If you do not have UIM or PIP we highly recommend it and increasing the limit to the full amount available. This is an invaluable resource in situations such as a hit-and-run or when another driver is uninsured.
