Motorcycle Versus Car on West Howard Lane

AUSTIN, TX – Two people were killed in an accident on West Howard Lane last Monday. The crash happened just before 4 p.m. near MoPac Expressway.

According to reports, a man was riding his motorcycle on Howard Lane, approaching a private drive. Kyle Frisbie, 24, had the right of way when Timothy McCabe, 51, backed out of his driveway, failing to yield. Frisbie struck the left driver’s side of the car with enough force to kill both men at the scene. The Austin-Travis County EMS reported that the motorcycle caught fire immediately following the collision.

Authorities are cautioning both drivers of motorcycles and vehicles to watch out for one another. Backing out of driveways should be done only after a person has made sure that the area behind and to the sides of the vehicle are clear. If you are unable to see, roll down your windows or even exit the vehicle to be sure that it is safe to continue on your path.

Motorcycle drivers should be on the lookout for any cars coming out of driveways in residential areas. Never assume that you are seen by the driver of a vehicle. Do your best to give the car wide berth as you maneuver close to it.
