News: Fire at north Austin apartment building displaces 29
AUSTIN, TX – A fire at an apartment complex in north Austin last night displaced 29 residents, KXAN reports.
The fire broke out Thursday evening at the Longspur Crossing Apartments, located at 701 West Longspur Boulevard, northeast of the intersection of Lamar Boulevard and Rundberg Lane.
Firefighters were able to confine the blaze to a single unit, but damage to the complex’s electric service forced them to vacate eight other units. A total of 29 residents have been temporarily displaced.
Fortunately, no one was hurt.
Investigators have since determined that the fire began in a water heater closet located on a second-floor balcony.
