News update: 3-year-old dies at hospital after being hit by car in parking lot

AUSTIN, TX – A child who was struck by a vehicle in a parking lot near William Cannon Drive on Saturday died a short time after the crash, according to the Austin Police Department.

This is an update to a previous news story.

The crash occurred in a parking lot at 4404 W William Cannon Drive at about 6:40 p.m. Saturday, when a 3-year-old boy was struck by a driver.

The child, who is not being identified here due to his age, was taken to Dell Children’s Medical Center. At 7:42 p.m., he was pronounced dead.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

The collision is the 37th fatal crash in Austin for the year.
