News Update: Police ID victim of fatal collision on San Gabriel St.
AUSTIN, TX – Austin police have released the identity of the man killed in a traffic collision on San Gabriel Street early on February 7.
According to their press release, Felipe Chavez-Salinas was driving a Chevrolet Corvette when he sideswiped a rideshare vehicle, collided with a pair of telephone poles, and finally crashed into an unoccupied Toyota Tundra. The vehicle came to a rest near the intersection of W 29the Street and Shoal Crest Avenue.
Emergency responders rushed Chavez-Salinas to Dell Seton Medical Center, where he died at 6:50 a.m., about four hours after the initial crash. He had turned 33 two days earlier.
