News: Woman and 8 children injured in rear-end crash on SH-71 in Garfield
GARFIELD, TX (TRAVIS COUNTY) – An adult and eight children were reported as injured following a speed-related crash in Garfield earlier this week, according to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
The accident happened on State Highway 71, east of Navarro Creek Road, at 8:15 a.m. Monday, as the 34-year-old driver of a gray Dodge was following too closely behind another vehicle and failed to control the speed of her vehicle.
The front of her Dodge collided with the rear of a blue Chevrolet being driven by a 28-year-old woman.
The second driver sustained minor injuries in the crash, as did her two passengers, a 12-year-old girl and an 8-year-old girl.
The six passengers in the Dodge were a 1-year-old girl, a 6-year-old boy, an 8-year-old boy, a 10-year-old girl, a 12-year-old girl, and a 15-year-old boy. All six children reported having suffered possible injuries during the crash.
The driver of the Dodge, who was determined to be at fault, was not reported as injured.
