News: Woman killed in early-morning house fire in north Austin

AUSTIN, TX – A woman was killed in a house fire in the north Austin area early this morning, according to KXAN.

The incident happened at a two-story home on Little Fatima Lane at about 3:30 a.m.

Firefighters were forced to go through a window on the second floor to search for victims due to the presence of heavy flames at the front of the building.

A woman was discovered inside the home. Despite being rescued and treated by medics nearby, she was pronounced dead at the scene of the fire. Her identity was not immediately revealed.

The fire appears to have started in the garage, though an investigation into the incident continues at this time.

About $250,000 worth of structural damage was caused to the home. An additional $10,000 worth of damage occurred to a vehicle nearby.
