News: Woman, 52, dies from multi-vehicle crash on Hwy 71 in Austin

AUSTIN, TX – A Monday morning multi-vehicle crash on the 8600 block of Highway 71 in Austin left a 52-year-old woman dead. 

The collision happened around 5 am, FOX 7 Austin reported. 

A box truck was nearing the intersection of Hwy 71 when the truck driver slammed into five cars at the red light. The collision happened because he did not maintain a distance between the other vehicles. 

It is unclear if the box truck driver and the other drivers were injured and if there were other contributing factors in Monday’s crash. 

The 52-year-old woman was identified as Shala Morgan.

Morgan succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Austin Police are investigating the crash.
