Woman and Dog Reunited After Accident

TYLER, TX – Getting into a car crash is a stressful occurrence. Imagine being involved in a wreck with your best friend riding as a passenger in your vehicle. Katherine Ann Scott knows that feeling all too well.

Scott and her best dog pal, Alcide, was traveling back to Austin from Tyler just a few short weeks ago. The crash occurred in Palestine, TX. Scott’s vehicle, a Hyundai, was struck by an 18-wheeler in an intersection. Before the woman knew what was happening, she was hit on her driver’s side. She was hit so hard, in fact, that it took rescue crews 45 minutes to extricate her from her vehicle.

Scott was knocked unconscious as a result of the accident. When she came to, she realized that her copilot was missing. Family and friends flocked to Palestine while Scott was recovering in the hospital. They posted flyers featuring Alcide, and they spread word on social media that the dog was missing.

The efforts of searchers paid off when two women located the dog under an office building. They had recognized the dog from a Facebook post.

Scott was reunited with her best friend and is now recovering from her injuries. She has a long road ahead of her as far as her injuries are concerned, and will remain in Tyler to complete her rehabilitation. All of that barely matters to Scott now that she and her pet have been reunited.

“It’s been absolutely amazing, so I just really want to thank East Texas because I wouldn’t have Alcide back if it wasn’t for all of them.”

Scott is happy to be alive after seeing pictures taken at the accident scene. She is also thankful that her dog was uninjured and so quickly located. Seven broken bones are nothing to scoff at, but the crash could have been far worse for the pair.
