Phil and Adam Loewy donate $100,000 to COVID Relief

Phil and Adam Loewy have announced they will match all donations to up to $100,000 for Shalom Austin’s COVID 19 Community Response Fund.

“Every person in the world has been affected by COVID-19 in some capacity, obviously some more than others. A lot of people and businesses are struggling right now financially, emotionally, and physically. We feel compelled to help,” explained Phil Loewy. Shalom Austin will use the COVID-19 Community Response Fund to swiftly and effectively address the unprecedented and evolving needs our community and partner agencies now face such as ensuring at-risk populations receive basic needs like food and shelter, increasing access to mental health and social services, expanding scholarship opportunities to meet a growing demand, stabilizing our workforces and providing operating capital to help our agencies and institutions to survive.

Adam Loewy said, “The COVID crisis has obviously affected every community in Austin, including the Jewish community. We’ve heard many stories of people who have lost their jobs, people who are on very rough financial ground right now. And it’s clear this crisis doesn’t discriminate with any group. We as Jews feel it’s extremely important to do everything we can to help fellow Jews, and that is what we are trying to do with this matching gift.”
