ExxonMobil Fire Injures 12 in Beaumont

A fire at the ExxonMobil Refinery in Beaumont resulted in 12 injuries last week, leaving one victim with critical burns. According to ABC News, other victims were left with broken bones and less severe burns. A spokeswoman for ExxonMobil said that the fire occurred at 10:30 last Wednesday morning in a processing unit that was closed for maintenance. The unit was used to process crude oil. Exxon Mobil claims that the fire was controlled quickly, even though 12 people suffered injuries. “We sincerely regret this has happened and will conduct a complete investigation to determine the cause of the incident,” said the spokeswoman. Several days ago, another spokeswoman for the company identified the source of the fire as a heat exchange, but did not identify a cause. “The natural thing people want to know is what happened,” she said, “This is factual information.”
